ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN OVERVIEW:

The Engineering Technician is responsible for aiding the Engineering Department in the design and development of medical devices, device accessories and processes that complement our current various product lines.  This position may also involve training Manufacturing Technicians on processes and principles associated with the technology, as well as providing ongoing technical support to the Engineering Department and Production Teams.

COMPETANCIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to):

  • Perform test procedures to verify and validate product quality and efficacy.
  • Aid Engineering in the design and development of medical devices and accessories.
  • Use established procedures to improve existing tooling, medical device quality and invent new accessories.  Continually optimize manufacturing procedures to produce effective medical devices.
  • Aid in coordinating custom customer projects with different stakeholders in Production and with Vendors.
  • Document all developments in scientific notebooks and update documents using the change control processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the completion of new product design verifications and validations
  • Complete design drawings in Solidworks and 3D print new prototypes to progress the development through its design stages.
  • Assist in training of PMT personnel with new processes associated with design and development of medical devices and accessories.
  • Aid Engineering in developing efficient (i.e. cost, material, time, etc.), user-friendly manufacturing processes.
  • Comply with appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. GMP, ISO, FDA, etc.) and associated quality systems described in PMT’s documentation.
  • Communicate with strategic vendors and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 or 4 year degree in applicable field of study, preferably engineering (ME, ChE, EE, BioMedE)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and self-organizer.  Strong problem solving and statistical math skills.
  • Strong personal computer skills, including experience with Soildworks, Excel, Word and Outlook
